Environmental Enhancement ProgramAvailable for Immediate ConnectionThe health of our rivers, streams and bays greatly impacts the property values and desirability of Baldwin County. Public sanitary sewer is better for overall water quality than septic tank systems. This includes the water you drink, swim and fish in. With that in mind, Baldwin County Sewer Service is offering incentives for residents and businesses to connect to our sewer system in environmentally sensitive areas. The BCSS Environmental Enhancement Program offers reduced tap and grinder pump fees for both new construction and for those switching from septic to sewer. EEP also allows for construction in areas denied as unsuitable for septic tanks. How the E/One grinder pump works. Each E/One grinder pump station is a complete unit, including grinder pump, check valve, tank and all necessary controls packaged into a single unit and small-diameter pipe lines. The 1 ¼” discharge connection can be adapted to any piping materials that meet local code requirements. A tough, corrosion-resistant tank of high-density polyethylene provides optimum holding capacity. An internal check valve assembly in the grinder pump discharge line is custom-designed for non-clog, trouble-free operation. When I flush my toilet, where does it go?In the past, sewer technology consisted of only two choices: a septic tank/leach field or a gravity-fed central system. Neither system is entirely reliable, and both are susceptible to leakage, damage, and overflows. In fact, it is estimated that over the next century, most existing sewer systems will have to be entirely renovated and rebuilt. Fortunately, there’s a better way. Baldwin County Sewer Service used the E/One low pressure sewer system. This system consists of a grinder pump station that provides wastewater storage, grinding and pumping in a single unit. The waste is then transported away through small-diameter pipes installed just below the frost line. This system can be connected to other pumps to create a reliable system that terminates in a treatment facility or a sewer main. Among the many benefits of this system are lower cost, less disruption to the landscape, greater reliability and the protection of the environment. With BCSS-E/One low pressure sewer technology, you can rest assured that you’ve got the safest, most reliable sewer system available today. Because the low pressure sewer system consists of a sealed piping network and can be installed in traditionally difficult terrain such as wet, hilly, rocky, or below-grade, they are the economically sensible, environmentally sensitive sewering solution. The BCSS-E/One low pressure system not only offers greater safety to the surrounding environment, it also provides greater security for the individual homeowner. Painstakingly engineered to do one job perfectly. E/One grinder pumps set the standard for reliability in the industry. Built from heavy-duty components, these pumps us a minimum of moving parts and are designed in a modular fashion, so that repairs can be quickly and easily achieved –if necessary. With an outstanding record of reliability and the lowest downtime for repairs, you can take comfort in knowing you’ve chosen the best system. As our population grows and our resources shrink, it only makes sense to preserve the precious and fragile environment. That’s why homeowners and communities in Baldwin County are turning to BCSS and E/one sewer systems for new construction or replacement of failing systems. The E/One low pressure system allows homes to be sited in delicate environments, such as high water tables, without compromising surrounding water quality. By transporting wastewater up to two miles horizontally or up to 140 feet vertically, E/One pumps move wastewater away from pristine shorelines, underground aquifers and other sensitive natural areas. And because of their unique, small-diameter piping, E/One sewer systems are much more benign to install than septic fields or gravity fed sewers. These pipes are installed in narrow trenches that follow the natural contours of the land, making for a minimally disruptive installation. The E/One grinder pump station is installed in-ground, nearly flush with the surface, making it work easily with new construction and existing structures alike.
