Help! My septic system has failed! What can I do?
Call Jenny at (251) 971-1516. Failed systems get priority treatment from BCSS. If you are in an area we service, we will provide emergency installation and mitigation for your failed system. In some areas, BCSS provides special discounted pricing for switching from septic to sewer.
What can delay my installation?
The number one delay for sewer system installation is permitting. Baldwin County Sewer Service, in most instances, has to petition the county, state or a city, or all of the above, to get permission to run a sewer line in the various rights-of-way. Depending on the complexity of the installation, it can be costly and time consuming. Permits can be let in as little as 4 days or as long as 6 months. The second most common delay factor is rain. BCSS cannot install while the ground is wet.
Who do I call for service?
Call Baldwin County Sewer Service at 251/971-3022. Service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What happens if the pump requires service, or there is a power outage? Is there an alarm?
There is an audible alarm that will alert you that service is needed. In the event of a power outage, the E/One 2010 tank holds 70 gallons, providing ample storage capacity. Since dishwashers and washing machines aren’t running, that is usually more than enough for flushing toilets during the outage.
Is there anything I can’t put down the drain?
The E/One grinder pump will handle all typical household waste. However, you should not allow glass, rags, cloth, seafood shells, sanitary napkins, egg shells, metal, tampons, plastic, Depends, diapers, paint, grease, cooking oil, condoms, socks, oil or sand to enter the pump. More Information >>
Do E/One grinder pumps require much maintenance?
No. Like other appliances in your home, E/One grinder pumps require very low preventive maintenance. The average mean time between service calls is ten years. We recommend that you hose out your pump every few years. It’s a quick and easy task that can be added to your Spring cleaning or landscaping to- do list. More Information >>
Does the E/One grinder pump emit any unpleasant odors?
No. Since the pump will run occasionally to remove wastewater from the basin, there is no odor.
Do I need to do anything special to the system if I am gone for long periods of time?
No mechanical preparations are necessary. However, it is recommended that you fill a bathtub and then drain it to flush the tank.
How much does the E/One pump cost to run?
Annual power consumption is typically equal to a 40-watt light bulb, about $15 to $20.
